After installing an air conditioner, you will need to maintain the system regularly. This will ensure that it functions optimally throughout the hot summer months. A well-serviced air conditioning unit also uses less energy to run, so you will keep the house cool while maintaining your utility expenses at a reasonable range.

But before getting a technician to provide air conditioning services like AC system maintenance, you should learn the essential things to include in the service checklist. This way, you'll know the tasks the technician will prioritize to ensure the AC unit runs efficiently for longer. Some of these tasks are shared below.

Inspecting the Filter

One of the components that affect the functionality of an air conditioner is the filter. You have to clean it regularly and replace it if it gets worn. If your home is exposed to a lot of pollution, dust, or pollen, you will have to clean and change the filters more often. You may need a new filter even before the next service appointment.

When the technician arrives, they will check the filter's condition to see if it's functioning optimally. If it has trapped lots of pollutants and contaminants and is still in good shape, the HVAC technician will clean it and restore it. However, the expert will replace it if it's not trapping dirt, dust, and other contaminants due to damage.

Cleaning and Examining the Condenser Coil

Another component the technician will check is the condenser coil. While the AC unit is off, they will spray water on the coils to eliminate debris or dirt buildup. Then they will check for damages to determine if it needs repairs or replacement. All this is done to ensure the AC system can transfer the warm air outside to keep the house cool.

Calibrating the Thermostat

When a thermostat breaks down, your air conditioning system will not read the indoor temperature effectively. This will also make it difficult for the AC unit to meet your cooling needs. During maintenance, the technician will check the condition of the thermostat and calibrate it if necessary.

Inspecting the Electrical Wiring

Your air conditioner relies on the electrical system for an adequate power supply. However, if the wiring is faulty, the AC unit won't function. Sometimes the wiring system degrades due to overheating. The wires also get worn because of exposure.

So, the technician will check the electrical wiring system to ensure there are no damages that could cause the AC system to stop working due to power supply problems. Also, when you see a scorched wire before the service appointment, you should call the HVAC specialist to check it.

Troubleshooting HVAC Issues

About a year ago, I realized that our air conditioner just wasn't cutting it. Our home was constantly hot and humid, even though our air conditioner was running almost all the time. In addition to driving up our energy bill, my entire family was tired of sweating constantly. To resolve the problem, we decided to hire an HVAC contractor to come out and fix the problem. He figured out that our compressor was damaged, and he replaced it for us. After that, our system ran great again. This blog is here for anyone who has ever had trouble diagnosing air conditioning problems.
